Tea Time at Winterthur Celebrates Downton Abbey

What’s better than a hot cup of tea in this cold weather? How about sipping tea after experiencing the dramatic costumes of the popular British series?

If you can’t get enough of Winterthur’s yearlong “Costumes of Downton Abbey,” celebrate with an afternoon tea in the estate’s visitor center. The menu includes finger sandwiches like crème-fraîche egg salad on poppy-seed brioche with sweet pea sprouts, cauliflower-Stilton bisque and all manner of miniature scones. Executive chef Gary Coyle also mixes era-specific cuisine with locally influenced dishes, like Henry Francis du Pont’s chocolate mousse tartlets. There are several tea dates still available before the exhibit concludes in January. Reserve your table at www.winterthur.org.
