Newark Brew HaHa! Gets a Facelift

Owner Alisa Morkides and her team completed the renovations in just nine days.

If you stopped by Newark’s Brew HaHa! location recently and things looked different, don’t be alarmed—the cafe recently received a makeover.

It was closed for only nine days during the renovation, and during that time, owner Alisa Morkides and her team lightened up the cafe by painting it white and installing white marble countertops onto the service bar, along with a new reclaimed wood front. Her team also built and installed a 25-foot boho-style banquette, and a 25-foot wood bar along the window wall which overlooks the deck. The cafe has been appointed with new art and new furnishings, including new tables and chairs.

“It is an overall cosmetic refresh, but the cafe looks very different than it did,” says Morkides. The cafe reopened on Monday, Jan. 30.

The food menu has remained the same, however, Morkides has introduced a new “slow coffee” bar to the cafe. Patrons can enjoy some of the latest brewing methods, such as Siphon, Chemex and pourover coffee.

“It’s a great way to taste our varietal coffees from Brandywine Coffee Roasters,” Morkides says.
