Dishing Details for Downtown Newark Food and Brew Festival

With specialty root beer tastings for the kiddos, this is a family affair.

The 11th annual Downtown Newark Food and Brew Festival is here. The event on July 26 showcases more than 40 craft and imported beers paired with creative food offerings from 17 of Newark’s restaurants, including the brand new Del Pez. Unlike most beer festivals, this event takes place in the restaurants. Travel from restaurant to restaurant to sample the featured brews and tasty dishes designed to spotlight the brews at that particular establishment. The first 2,500 guests will receive a Food & Brew Fest 11 commemorative tasting mug, available at all participating restaurants and at the booth on the Academy Building lawn at Academy and Main streets. Guests may sample one of the restaurant’s featured brews for $1 as well as sample featured restaurant fare for the event at varying prices. Kids will be able to sample specialty root beer at the Academy Building until 6 p.m. Tickets are not required. This is a pay-as-you-go event. All you need is your wallet and your state-issued ID. Celebrate the unique relationship between the culinary arts and the brewing sciences. Best of all, parking is free for the event in municipal parking lots and on-street parking meters. 655-6483, newarkfoodandbrewfest.com
