Few can pilot an Irish celebration like Joe and Shirley Sheridan. The husband-wife owners of Sheridan’s Irish Pub (44 W. Commerce St., Smyrna, 659-5566, www.sheridansirishpub-smyrna.com), hailing from Dublin and Mullingar, respectively, pride their business on downhome Irish faves like boxty, sausage and mash, and shepherd’s pie. They also bestow members of the pub’s 267-strong mug club with pewter mugs made in Shirley’s hometown. With all the Irish spirit, it’s no surprise that Sheridan’s—which celebrated its 10-year anniversary in December—is plotting a four-day party around St. Patrick’s Day. An all-day block party, featuring DJs, live music, food, drinks and, yes, adult tricycle rides, commences on March 14, followed by a town parade on Sunday. On the official holiday (March 17), Sheridan’s hosts an Irish breakfast, along with pipers, dancers and more. To help promote the town, the owners have forged connections with various community organizations and nearby Painted Stave Distillery. Says Shirley, “We all want to give people more reasons to visit Smyrna.”
