Kaisy's Delights Serves Up a Taste From Abroad

Crazy about Kaiserschmarrn? The Austrian specialty can now be found at the beach.

Though they’re originally from France, Thierry and Nathalie Langer of Lewes are living the American dream. They’ve become entrepreneurs, opening Kaisy’s Delights in Rehoboth Beach in May. The shop specializes in an Austrian specialty called Kaiserschmarrn, which is “basically a fluffy, shredded pancake with vanilla extract, rum and raisins,” Thierry says. The couple shortened the name to Kaisy for obvious pronunciation reasons.

The dish can be served for breakfast with sausage, bacon and fresh fruit or as a dessert with powdered sugar, homemade marmalade and other toppings. The adorable store is decorated like a pink chalet with the restaurant staff wearing Austrian hats and shirts. You might even hear yodeling in the background. Kaisy’s is open year-round. The Langers are already planning to open a second shop in Lewes next year. For more info, visit www.kaisysdelights.com.
