Dream Team of Singers, Dancers and Actors in ‘The Drowsy Chaperone’

Delaware All-State Theatre promises to deliver lots of laughs.

Star-Studded

The concept is simple: Take the best actors from schools across the state, then assemble a dream team to stage a production of a beloved musical, just as the best athletes would play an all-star game. That’s Delaware All-State Theatre. The group of more than 30 talented singers, dancers and actors will present the multi-Tony Award-winning musical comedy “The Drowsy Chaperone” in the Laird Performing Arts Center at the Tatnall School for two weekends beginning June 20. “Chaperone” pays tribute to the Jazz-age shows of the 1920s, by transporting audiences into a dazzling fantasy and lifting our spirits in times of sadness. A rare combination of unprecedented originality and blinding talent, “Chaperone” boldly addresses a great unspoken desire in all of our hearts: to be entertained. “We are fortunate to have so many über talented student performers participate in DAST,” says Jeffrey Santoro, founder and director of Delaware All-State Theatre. “With this show, having comedic timing is crucial for a successful production. At each rehearsal I love watching our performers laugh and thoroughly enjoy the performances of their fellow cast-mates. Let’s just say that they deliver comedy like seasoned pros. With its big dance numbers—including a rousing tap routine—and larger-than-life musical songs, this is not a show to be missed!”
