The show is one of the best in the area, a perfect summer event made better for the simple fact that you can roam the art league’s 3.5 acres, The Homestead, in Henlopen Acres, an oasis at the beach. More than 100 artists in several mediums are participating. Now at the Delaware Art Museum, “Pre-Raphaelites in Print: The Age of Photomechanical Reproduction,” which features 35 stunning photomechanical facsimiles from the museum’s Samuel and Mary R. Bancroft collection of British Pre-Raphaelite art.The exhibition displays images of Pre-Raphaelite art created by individual photographers and large commercial enterprises, such as the Autotype Company. We think nothing of that imagery today, but before the advent of photography, the only way to see a work of art was to see the original.
