No Sweat: What to Wear to Your New Favorite Workout

You signed up for your first barre class, but now you’re unsure of what to wear. Don’t stress; just follow these easy tips.

AERIAL FITNESS

Wear: Clothing that moves with you and that is form-fitting. Baggy clothing can snag and catch on the sling’s fabric causing accidents. Avoid anything with zippers and always remove all jewelry, watches and hair clips. Instructors also recommend going barefoot and to go easy on the body lotion—you will move more easily during class.

To buy: REI in Newark has a great selection of yoga tops. Leggings are available almost everywhere, so stock up on the brands that fit you best.

TRAMPOLINING

Wear: A good sports bra.

To buy: Check out Athleta, located in Glen Mills, Pa., which offers a variety of styles and levels of support.

BARRE FITNESS

Wear: Leggings. Many of the exercises involve opening and closing your legs, so shorts are not the best option.

To buy: Stock up for cheap at Target or H&M, or go high-end at Lululemon.

BODY AND SOUL GYM AND RISE FITNESS

Wear: Comfortable sneakers.

To buy: Head to Delaware Running Company in Wilmington and Newark. Staffers will help you find the right shoe.

Our Best of Delaware Elimination Ballot is open through February 22!
