Autumn, the season of leaves changing, freshly cut grass and morning dew lingering in the air; and the smell of pumpkin spice filling the coffee shops instantly makes a person feel nostalgic.
While pumpkin spice lattes are already a staple for the fall, pumpkin infused beer is picking up speed. And Delaware breweries are following suit as many have released their own pumpkin infused ale just in time for the season.

3rd Wave Brewing Co.'s Jack'd Belgian Pumpkin Ale.
This micro- brewery is located at 501 N. Bi State Blvd. in Delmar and features their seasonal special Jack’d Belgian Pumpkin Ale. This fall favorite is brewed with American 2-row and a plethora of specialty malts. Mixed with pumpkin puree, fresh ground cinnamon, nutmeg and ginger provides a beautiful amber color that is just in line with fall. Jack’d Belgian Pumpkin Ale has a 6.4-6.6% ABV and an IBU of 23-25.
Big Oyster Brewery, Shuckin' Pumpkin Ale
The popular beach-based brewery located at 1007 Kings Highway, Lewes features Shuckin' Pumpkin Ale. This ale instantly reminds you of fall with a pronounced caramel flavor and dark notes. Shuckin Pumpkin Ale has notes of cinnamon, cloves, and nutmeg and has a 5.6 % ABV.
Blue Earl Brewing Co., Ain’t Superstitious
Blue Earl Brewing Company, located at 210 Artisan Drive, Smyrna, is relasing their imperial pumpkin ale Ain’t Superstitious on Friday, Sept. 27. Ain’t Superstitious is a pumpkin and yam beer with notes of gingerbread, maple syrup, honey and spice that has a 7.1% ABV and 15 IBU.
Crooked Hammock Brewery, Jav-O-Lantern
This brewery, located at 36707 Crooked Hammock Way in Lewes, features Jav-O-Lantern. This smoked pumpkin coffee ale has a 7.4% ABV and a 17 IBU. Jav-O-Lantern is packed with real pumpkin that was smoked over Bethany Blue’s cherrywood. Individuals who enjoy the notes of sweet smoke, spice, and roasted coffee will love this drink.
Dogfish Head Craft Brewery, Punkin Ale
The Milton brewery located on 6 Cannery Village Center features Punkin Ale described as a “full bodied brown ale with smooth hints of pumpkin, brown sugar & spice.” This ale is perfect for individuals who are looking to stay warm during the cooler weather. Punkin Ale has a 7.0% ABV and a 17 IBU. Make sure to grab this product fast because it is only released through August to November.
Fordham and Dominion, Spiced Harvest Ale
This brewery is located at 1284 McD Drive, Dover and features Spiced Harvest Ale. This ale is a light amber color and is spiced with cinnamon, ginger, clove, allspice, and pumpkin. Spiced Harvest Ale has a 6.5% ABV and 20 IBU. It is available in 12 oz. cans and draft.
Iron Hill Brewery & Restaurant, Pumpkin Ale
This regional brewpub chain can be found in Wilmington at 620 Justison St., and features their Pumpkin Ale. This ale screams Fall and Halloween spirit with its haunted packaging. With spices, real pumpkin and hints of vanilla bean makes individuals in store for a real treat. Pumpkin Ale is available on tap inside the pub and in a four pack to take home. This ale has an ABV of 5.5% and an IBU of 30.
Volunteer Brewing, Pumpkin Porter
This brewery is located at 120 W. Main St., Middletown and features Pumpkin Porter. This ale screams fall with its rich and dark color that features several pounds of Autumn Buckskin pumpkins and chocolate. Individuals with a sweet tooth will love this beer due to the brown sugar, raisins, cinnamon and nutmeg added to the blend. Pumpkin Porter has a 6.3% ABV and 22 IBU.
