More than 1,500 people enjoyed the best food, shopping, cocktails and music that Delaware has to offer at the Best of Delaware Party, held July 25, 2013. Aisles bursting with award-winning fare from nearly 100 of the area’s top restaurants, boutiques, salons and other local businesses filled Dover Downs Hotel & Casino’s Rollins Center. Guests danced the night away to award-winning party band, Jellyroll, and rubbed elbows with local celebs. We always look forward to partying with the best. Next year, we hope that includes you!
Jellyroll has kept the party going year after year with its infectious grooves. The 2013 event also featured stellar performances by Sean Reilly, The Sankofa African Dance Company, The Philip Berger Jazz Trio, Mario Rocco and the Combined Choir of Calvary Baptist Church.
From cupcakes to crab cakes and all sorts of swag in between, guests had their pick of endless tastes, samples and gifts from award-winning local businesses. Second helpings, of course, are always encouraged.
Delaware Today was honored to partner with the Kent County Fund for the Arts, Girl Scouts of the Chesapeake Bay, Variety – The Children’s Charity, Nemours/Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children and Delaware KIDS Fund as party beneficiaries.
The Best of Delaware Party would not have been possible without the generous support of sponsors like Delaware State University, Horty & Horty, The News Journal and a variety of other local and statewide businesses.
There was no reason to leave empty-handed at this party! The silent auction was stocked with fabulous goods, services and other treasures. Proceeds went to support one of this year’s beneficiaries and silent auction coordinator Girl Scouts of the Chesapeake Bay.
The party started early at the Rollins Center for VIP guests, who closed out the night at the exclusive Fire and Ice Lounge afterparty, where Mike Hines and the Look put on a special performance.
