Welcome to Home Skillet, a dining events blog that has absolutely nothing to do with Michael Vick. Please skim my review of Capers & Lemons from the September issue of Delaware Today. As you might be able to ascertain, I really liked the tiramisu. Moving on, here’s what we’ve got working this week:
Thursday: August 20: Are you single? Do you mingle? Would you care for a French Whore? Then Kooma on the Riverfront is your place to be this Thursday.
At the sushi restaurant’s first ever Summer Singles Mix and Mingle event, experience free appetizers, drink specials, raffles, those always-awkward ice breaker games, and most importantly, the chance to meet that special someone.
It all goes down Thursday from 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Registration is open to singles ages 22 to 40 years old and carries a fee of $20 at the door or $15 in advance. Call 543-6732 for more info, or to pre-register your sexy, single self.
Saturday, August 22: Fore! One of the finest athletic drinking traditions in the state tees off Saturday, when the 17th annual round of Dewey Beach Bar Golf commences.
Anywhere from 500 to 700 crazed, Sharpie-brandishing golfers will make the rounds Saturday, migrating between The Bottle & Cork, Gary’s Dewey Beach Grill, Grotto, Hammerheads, The Lighthouse, Mamas, McShea’s, Nalu, Que Pasa, Scully’s, The Starboard and Woody’s.
The event starts at 3 p.m. at The Starboard and registration takes places here.
Be a Celebrity Chef: “Who, me?” Yes you, silly. You’ve put in the hours of Food Network. You eBay’d that Emeril autographed 8-by-10 glossy. You have a negative opinion of Guy Fieri. You are ready.
Simply click here and enter into the first ever Delaware Today recipe contest. We’ll choose the most creative entrée recipe and stick it on the menu at Harry’s Savoy Grill and Harry’s Seafood. Plus, you’ll film your own segment on “Chef’s Kitchen.”
This could be your big break. Click the link to get started.
