Welcome to Home Skillet, where we thought Cabin Fever was a brand of maple syrup. Below, a few great events happening this weekend.
TONIGHT, Wednesday, March 4: Washington Street Ale House, those of 20 taps fame, are hosting a special five-course beer dinner tonight featuring Denver-based craft brewers, Flying Dog. Meticulously prepared courses (like gulf shrimp, wrapped in miso and maple-cured bacon) will be paired with five Flying Dog beers, even dessert (malted chocolate pot de crème) gets washed down with a pint of Imperial Porter.
Admission runs $55 per person and the party starts at 7 p.m. Call 658-2537 for more and to reserve your spot.
Friday, March 6: Frank’s Union Wine Mart, that great purveyor of fine wines, also knows how to throw one swanky party. Join them Friday at the Hotel DuPont’s Gold Ballroom for Frank’s Golden Wine Event.
From 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Frank will pop the cork on 250 wine and champagne selections for tasting and for sale. Gourmet food—including a beef tenderloin carving station, a lamb chop station, spring rolls, chicken satay, a chocolate fountain and more—will be spread throughout the ballroom.
A rare wine silent auction highlights the night’s events.
Tickets cost $150 per person, and include gratuity and valet parking. For tickets call 1-800-AT-FRANKS or order online at www.frankswine.com.
Saturday, March 7: From one festival to another, it’s all good in Delaware’s foodie haven, Rehoboth Beach. The always-tempting Chocolate Festival kicks off Saturday.
Organizers Rehoboth Beach Main Street promise more restaurant entries than ever will fill the Rehoboth Beach Convention Center. That means more professionally-made cookies, brownies, pies, cheesecake, candy, cakes and more.
Admission is just $2 and kids under 5 are free. Call 227-2772 or visit Rehoboth Beach Main Street for more.
What else is new? You tell me.
