Beer Mug Clubs in Delaware

Mugworthy: Local establishments offer bargains on favorite brews.

This is our kind of club: Pay the dues at your favorite brewpub, get your own mug, which is kept safely behind the bar, then fill it any time at special prices. Here are the deets:

Iron Hill Brewery & Restaurant  Newark and Wilmington
For $35 a year your handmade 24-ounce mug is filled any time for the price of a pint. You’ll get a collectible to take home when you sign up. Enjoy specials for club members only, and as you drink, you’ll earn credits toward future purchases.

Two Stones Pub Newark
This out-of-the-box fave is known for its selection of craft brews. For $35 a year, enjoy the designated “mugworthy” choices in a 22-ounce vessel for the price of a pint, or enjoy a pint for $1 off regular prices. Past choices have been Allagash White Ale, Evolution Lot No3 IPA and Dogfish Head 60 Minute IPA.

Stewart’s Brewing Company Bear
Fifty bucks a year buys you reduced prices Sunday through Tuesday, then 24 ounces in your own mug the rest of the week. That means extra Big Bear Amber Ale in season. The burly ceramic mugs have a timeless look.

The Deer Park Tavern Newark
Your own ceramic mug handles a hearty 22 ounces and can be filled for the price of any beer offered by the pint—and that’s a nice survey of craft brews, including Taylor’s Grog, made exclusively for The Deer Park and McGlynn’s Pubs by our own Twin Lakes Brewery. Dues are $50 a year, but you recoup half with the $25 gift card you receive for signing up.

The Greene Turtle Lewes
The Turtle originated the mug club concept at its first location more than 35 years ago. For $35, you get your mug for life and $1 off
domestic beers any time.    —Mark Nardone
