Food and drinks aside, the restroom can be one of the most important aspects of your restaurant experience. We found a few that stand out around the First State.

Rise Up Coffee Roasters

This Maryland-based coffee shop has expanded to the Delaware beaches with breakfast, lunch and dinner menus, plus a full-service bar. But step into its single-person restroom and feel like you’re inside a collage. The wall’s tiling is made of various prints, colors, designs and texts. With black, metal and dark-wood accents, it’s a perfect space for moody mirror selfies. 502 Rehoboth Ave, Rehoboth Beach • 567-2588

Torbert Street Social

Torbert brought a speakeasy bar-restaurant vibe to Wilmington, and the design aesthetic is on point. Push open the mahogany door to the restrooms and find yourself in an art deco escape. With ornate wallpaper and dark tiling, this is a restroom with style. A neon-lit sign designates the men’s and women’s sides with two figures who look like they’ll be right behind you in line. 305 Torbert St, Wilmington • 407-6627

The new food hall in downtown Wilmington is all about inclusion with its unisex bathroom. The bright-orange floor-to-ceiling stall doors create über-privacy and lead to a steel-trough sink. The accessibility and open-space concept help during a crazy lunch crowd. 111 W. 10th St., Wilmington • 300-4955

While you’re there …

Of course, the menu is really the star at all these establishments. We stopped by to try some of our favorites.

At Torbert Street Social, try the crispy parmesan Brussels sprouts and twice-cooked duck wings for a perfect combination of salty, crunchy and savory.

At Rise Up Coffee Roasters, order a latte to pep up your morning and pair it with Huevos Rancheros for a slightly spicy and filling breakfast.

At DE.CO, try a little bit of everything, starting with Connie’s chicken and waffles. Head over to Phubs for the vegetarian pho bowl or Al Chu’s Sushi for a variety of sushi rolls, including Al’s Signature Roll and Spicy Tuna Roll.
