Good grief, this winter has been so tough on things—especially my hair. It has been so dry and lackluster looking. I was just thinking how it would take a miracle to get my brittle locks back to looking bright and healthy again.
Just so happens I ran into Holly Grist and her sweet hubby recently. This dynamic duo is the dream team behind the recently renovated Salon 828 on Union Street in Wilmington.
I have driven by it a million times and had no idea that it was a two-story, full-service oasis of beauty that includes plenty of free parking in its private lot.
Really, it is such a special place—a true gem.
Gotta tell you that what makes it so awesome are the people who work there, the high-quality products they use and the hipster decor.
Let me try to give you a feel for it. It’s super-cool, yet cozy; quiet, yet bustling with creativity, and you get first-class treatment.
For instance, I opted for a wonderful, deep Keratase Chroma Riche treatment, a trim and blowout. (This is a big-city treatment, but in Wilmington, is exclusive to 828.)
The results were enchanting and, moreover, I learned a few new tips from Holly:
• Don’t use your brush on wet hair—it will damage it.
• Try using your fingers first and dry your hair upward, then use your brush to finish it off. This will give you more volume.
Holly demystified the whole process for me and I loved the results!
Spread the word and toot the horns. Here is the deal of the week and it all goes to a great cause:
Salon 828 is hosting an Awareness & Benefit on Sunday, February 6, from noon to 4 p.m. For a minimum donation of $25, you can have a Great Haircut or Blow Dry with one of their Fabulous Stylists while enjoying a glass of bubbly and light fare. Everyone who stops by will get a goody bag!
