Let’s talk dressing “age-appropriately.” Today it is harder than ever for a woman to draw the line between what is too young, too old or just right.
It’s especially hard here in Delaware, where we are sitting between three big cities (NYC, Philly and D.C.) and feel the pressure to look hip. Where can you shop in-state to be “in style,” but not look like you grabbed your teenager’s mini skirt and tank top?
Well, I recently popped into White House|Black Market in Greenville and was really surprised with the versatility of their merchandise. The manager, Anne Marie Miller, explained to me that the store is starting to branch out.
“They have added a little splash of color,” she said. “This season we are going with a French theme, so fuchsia roses and classic linen dresses abound!”
Wow, I was standing in Greenville but was having flashbacks of Paris!
With a clientele that ranges from 18 to 60 and older, the outfits appeal to so many different ages. After snooping around, I agreed that the inventory was truly looking fresh and chic.
Picking up a red rose covered clutch, I thought, now this is sweet!
Then I spotted a few of their new bustier tops. VERY NICE. Just think, my daughter could wear it plain, and I could wear it with a little sweater draped over my shoulder. That will justify buying it!
Then the latest Maxi dresses were there, too. Talk about a great comeback. Just throw on a maxi to run out to dinner, and your friends will think you’ve been reading up on your fashion magazines.
Of course, I have to mention one of my all-time favorites, their side zip pants. If any of you women have NEVER tried side zip pants, you must run and slip into a pair. They seriously fit most body types and are SO slimming. Please leave a comment below, and tell me about your experience with them.
Finally, this store has the most wonderful costume jewelry and fun shoes. So don’t be fooled by the name, White House|Black Market is branching out and you can pepper your age-appropriate wardrobe with some color and class!
