Welcome to Home Skillet, a food and wine events blog hellbent on making Kwanzaa cake this year. Here are your events for the week, leading off with a downstate goodie:
Wednesday, December 9: Bayside beer and pork denizens at Pickled Pig Pub in Rehoboth are hosting a beer dinner Wednesday featuring a hearty five-course, beer-paired gastropub meal.
If tea-smoked duck breast and a frosty mug of Troegs Mad Elf ale are your kind of thing, you definitely won’t want to miss this.
Reservations are required and a seat costs only $39.95. Click your way over here for a full rundown and call 645-5444 to reserve your spot.
Wednesday, December 9: Musician Paul Cullen is Delaware’s favorite link to bygone hard-rock supergroup Bad Company—and not only can he shred on the bass, but the dude also knows his wine.
Recently he’s been teaming up with PortoVino, a wine distributor bent on “groovy” Italian wines, for tasting events all over the state.
On Wendesday, Cullen and PortoVino will be at Deerfield Fine Wines in Newark for another of their Unplugged & Uncorked sessions, featuring an acoustic set by Cullen and groovy wines from PortoVino. Call Deerfield at 266-8061 for more.
Boozy new digs: Premier Wine & Spirits is Kirkwood Highway’s newest spot to refuel on adult beverages. On Thursday, the 7,000-square-foot shop will hold its grand opening, complete with local dignitaries and refreshments.
Give Premier (2052 Limestone Road, Wilmington, 996-WINE) a look-see, or just swing over to its website.
