Sandra K. James

Head of global issues management & crisis communications at Corteva Agriscience, the agriculture division of DowDuPont.

Corteva Agriscience is the Agriculture Division of DowDuPont and is intended to become an independent, publicly traded company by June. Previously, Sandra K. James’ roles had been in DuPont corporate media relations during the historic merger with Dow, public affairs leadership for one of the DuPont businesses and a decade in public affairs management within the pharmaceutical industry.

Although James has made a career in science companies, she has a love of art. “I believe that art and science are both equally important to society,” she says. “I studied art history after college, and I’ve had some wonderful opportunities to engage with art and artists. I ran a highly successful art auction to benefit the Brandywine Valley National Scenic Byway a few years back. Recently I led the communications campaign when DuPont donated important artwork from its collection to three regional museums, and I currently sit on the board of trustees of the Delaware College of Art and Design. I’m enjoying the agriculture industry because of global issues like food security and biotechnology acceptance, but if I weren’t doing what I’m doing now, I would work in the art world.”

James’ husband is executive vice-president of a Dublin, Ireland-based company in the biopharmaceutical industry, and they have a daughter at Dartmouth College and a son at The Tatnall School.
