Welcome to Home Skillet, reigning silver medalist in the hot chocolate sipping event. Now that we’re all dug out from our driveway, here are some events for the week:
Thursday, February 18: As I mentioned last week, SNOW-POCALYPSE 2010 pushed Wilmington’s Chocolate Festival to Thursday. Click your way over here for all the rich, nougat-filled info.
Friday, February 19: Stop! …Burgertime. At Veritas Wine Shop Friday, burgers and brews take center stage during a special tasting feature. Personal chef Marc Antony will prepare a four-course slider menu and Veritas will match each creative mini-burger with a spirit from the store. Asian-spiced salmon sliders get with Sam Adams Noble Pills. Angus Choice burgers with foie gras come with Rochefort Trappistes. Cost is a mere $20 per person. RSVP by calling Veritas at 543-6071.
Saturday, February 20: All right, dogs: Put your keys into the bowl. Ain’t nobody driving home tonight. The Delaware Humane Association’s popular annual Muttini Mixer gets underway this weekend from the Delaware Center for Horticulture.
The puppy-friendly event (but don’t forget your leashes) requires an RSVP, which can be made by calling administration manager Debby Armstrong at 571-8171 or over at the organization’s Website. The event sold out last year, so call now and get your ticket for only $40.
Sunday, February 21: And since we can’t get enough doggie events, here’s another: Head to Little Italy classic Mrs. Robino’s on Sunday for the second annual—wait for it—Spay-ghetti Dinner. A portion of proceeds from lunch and dinner service that day will benefit Faithful Friends, Wilmington’s no-kill animal shelter. Head over and get your Lady and the Tramp on.
