Women in Business Luncheon
Looking Good!

Share

I go to a lot of networking events, but this year’s Delaware Today Women in Business Luncheon held at the Chase Center in Wilmington was a doozy!

With the lovely Susan Ledyard, president and designer of Cass and Co., as the keynote, women snapped up tickets to this sold-out event that had the large ballroom brimming with female entrepreneurial energy.

This was one no-nonsense event. We were greeted with a lovely string quartet and the salad was pre-plated and awaiting us before we were even seated (I’m saying that in a good way).

No long speeches, it was a quick half-hour of networking, then lunch was served and on with the show.

In her stunning Jean Paul Gautier blouse and skirt, and YSL shoes, Susan looked every bit the part of a luxury designer. She then gave an outstanding, animated and genuine talk about her experiences of taking her shapewear company from concept to reality.

If you have never tried these undergarments, they smooth out your lumps and bumps and even erase bra lines. They are comfortable, breathable and feel great.

Actually her company is much more than just shapewear, she even designs bathing suits with support in them.

Moreover, she shared with us many of her trials and life lessons. Here are a few take away tips and quotes:

•    “My mother always told me invest in your wardrobe and to buy really good quality key pieces.”

•    “Let who you are inside shine through in your wardrobe.”

•    She has a solid business plan that she follows and an experienced mentor she turns to.

•    What she learned in business school: In business make sure you have FAB—Features, Advantages and Benefits.

Afterward, there was a brief Q and A, and that was it. Short and sweet!

And I’m sure all came away charmed and inspired by this smart and elegant Delaware business owner.
