Zen and the Art of Hair

I find out the darndest new things while getting my nails done. The other day I was at Covet Day Spa and while chatting it up with Devon, the owner, she mentioned that right down the street there is a new hair salon that she thinks is right up my alley.

She said the owners wanted to bring a little New York chic to Delaware.

Hearing that was music to my ears, and I could not wait to check it out to see what Robert Cris Salon’s interpretation of “New York chic” would be.

I was not disappointed. Finding it was a bit tricky. It’s tucked away where the old Kirkwood Fitness center used to be, on the first floor of the new Smith Barney building.

But once you find it, you will feel instantly transported to a European-meets-Zen utopia. As soon as you step in the door, you can tell it’s a truly unique salon experience.

The young and hip co-owners, Robert and Cris, greeted me and gave me the grand tour.

I was amazed by the sleek, luxurious, European salon chairs, the quiet Buddha hair-washing station and special lights that show the true dimensions and shades in your hair. The lighting is especially important, so when you leave you’re not thinking, ‘Why is my hair this color?’

Robert Cris recently teamed with a local charity, Fund for Women, and hosted their recent “Makeover Madness” event. Not only were the results were stunning, but it is wonderful to see a new business bending over backward to help a local cause.

So next time you find yourself in need of an update, get your hair done at the newest, hippest place in town. You will have a lovely, relaxing experience.
