Share

With Valentine’s Day on one end and Presidents Day on the other, Feb. 15-17 is the ideal time for a romantic getaway at the Delaware beaches—especially when many hotels are offering special deals perfect for two. Can’t take off that weekend? No worries, there are other off-season rates to be found, and you’ll have plenty to do. Most area restaurants and shops keep winter hours.

Here are seven properties with specials to consider.

Bubbles and sweets

Book the Friday and Saturday over Valentine’s Day/Presidents Day weekend at the sophisticated yet friendly Hotel Blue, and you’ll receive complimentary Champagne and chocolates from Edie Bee’s Confection Shop. Prices range from $199 to $249 a night. Add a third night—Thursday, Sunday or Monday—for just $99.

In March, book three nights and get a fourth night for half off. (The discounted day does not include a weekend night or a holiday.)

Weekday delight

If you’re flexible during the week, reserve three nights between Sunday and Thursday at Hotel Rodney and get a fourth night for free. You must prepay for the three nights, and the offer does not include suites, holidays and special events that fall on weekdays. The offer is good until April 30.

It includes a two-night stay, a hand-bottled spirit and a fireside chat with the distilling team, along with a tour of the distillery and brewery, discount codes and local transportation to Dogfish Head properties. Room rates vary and range from $799 to $1,200.

The inn also features the $99 add-on Romantic Chemistry Package, which includes flowers, Edie Bee’s chocolates and Dogfish Head goodies.

A Victorian Valentine or cozy winter weekend

The picturesque Boardwalk Plaza Hotel, which sits right on the beach, carries a Victorian theme into public spaces and guestrooms. Stay on Feb. 14, and you’ll receive Champagne with two keepsake flutes, chocolates and a four-course dinner at Victoria’s, the inn’s restaurant. Sleep in the next day; the deal includes a late checkout. Rates vary depending on the room.

From now until March 21, book two nights in an oceanfront suite at the Boardwalk Plaza Hotel and you’ll receive a $50 food credit toward Victoria’s, The Plaza Pub or The Plaza Point Coffee Shoppe. The deal also includes a plush throw and pop-up lantern, unlimited DVD selections and hot chocolate and dessert for two delivered to your room. The cost is $499 per couple, and the deal isn’t available on holiday weekends.
