8 Ways to Celebrate Easter at the Beach

The Delaware beaches are constantly buzzing with great events, and this holiday weekend is no different. Here are some Easter and spring festivities to get egg-cited about.


In Lewes, the annualGreat Delaware Kite Festivalis always held on Good Friday. The event, now in its51styear, starts with an Easter egg hunt with 5,000 eggs filled with goodies at 11 a.m. on April 19. Festivities also include an egg toss competition, kite competitions and an appearance from the Easter Bunny.

The Easter Egg Hunt atLewes Canalfront Parkis Saturday, April 20 from 10 a.m. to noon. The rain-or-shine event will also feature face-painting, a balloon artist, Easter Bunny photo opportunities and music. The cost is $5per child or $10 for a family with two or more kids. Proceeds from the event support Lewes Canalfront Park.

TheDewey Beach Egg Scoop, organized by theDewey Business Partnership, starts at 11 a.m. on Saturday. No registration is required. There will also be a DJ, photos with the Easter Bunny and carnival-stylegames.

In the southern beaches, theBunny Palooza Run/Walkwill take place Saturdayat 8 a.m. for the 5K and 9 a.m. for the 10K. The race starts atParkwoodStreet and Atlantic Avenue and finishes at the Bethany Beach Boardwalk Bandstand. Stick around for the post-race party with music, games and more.

Peninsula Art Gallery in Lewes has curated an arrangement of floral-inspired art for its Spring Mix show, which runs until April 30. The juried exhibition features 19 artists’still life and landscape paintings. The gallery is near Harvest Tide Steakhouse and The Pig & Publican if you want to grab a bite before or after.
