Here’s what the owner of Aqua Sol Restaurant had to say about winning and attending our big Best of Delaware Awards bash.
Aqua Sol Restaurant and Bar in Bear is not new to the “Best Of” scene. After winning several times during the past five years, it’s easy to see why. “It’s always revolved around our large waterfront patio—and understandably so. It’s quite a spectacle,” says owner Curt Busz. Just last year Aqua Sol won for the fourth time in the Best Water View dining category. “It is something my staff and I are very proud of. From our first award in 2010, it changed the way we perceived ourselves and I immediately noticed my staff conducted themselves with more confidence,” Busz says. He adds that there has also been a boost in business. “It’s like winning a Grammy or an Oscar. And with that label, people take notice.” Aqua Sol was also in attendance at the 2014 Best of Delaware Party, bringing along mahi tacos with an avocado relish and red cabbage slaw to impress the massive crowd. Busz says the party was a great place to scope out fellow restaurants and what they had to offer. “I’d be lying if I said anything else but the food was my favorite. When surrounded by the best in the state, every employee at every vendor booth is checking out what everyone else is doing,” Busz says. “It not only stimulates friendly competition, but it’s great for the Delaware culinary scene as a whole.” Encouraging folks to check out the next party, Busz says it’s important to support the local businesses “who are not only busting their backs everyday to make a living, but are doing it well.” We can’t wait to see if Aqua Sol will make a triumphant return to the “Best Of” list when our winners are announced in July.
