Best of Delaware: Community and Media in 2025

Meet the individuals who garnered Best of Delaware accolades for helping to make the First State so unique.

Area Ambassador

Editors: Alexis Harris

Alexis Harris developed First State Destinations as a lifestyle brand made up of social media accounts, events, and initiatives, all to celebrate and promote Delaware’s vibrant food and culture scene. Through First State Destinations, Harris, who moved to Delaware from North Carolina in 2019, highlights Delaware’s hidden treasures and aims to foster community connections, all in the name of showing people how to experience all that the First State has to offer. Believing that Delaware has been overlooked too long, in 2024, she scored a lengthy interview with then-Gov. John Carney. Camden-Wyoming

Tuneful Twosome

Editors: The Honey Badgers

With a folk-Americana sound likened to that of The Civil Wars and The Swell Season, The Honey Badgers blend soulful harmony with sincere lyrics and melodies to the beat of guitar, harmonica, and fiddle. Michael Natrin and Erin Magnin came together in 2011 when he asked her to play fiddle for the Delmarva Folk Festival’s Folk Hero competition near Dover. The following decade-plus has yielded an EP, two fulllength albums, and a marriage. Their latest album, “The Earth Turns and So Do We” is a collection of 15 tracks addressing grief, memory, loneliness, stagnancy and—through it all—a thread of hope and healing. Newark
