A Restoration for the Nation: Jacqueline Kennedy Transforms the White House,

April 12 @ 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm

Jacqueline Kennedy entered the White House determined to help Americans understand why their history matters. She sought to remind Americans of their heritage by furnishing the president’s house with superlative examples of fine and decorative art from the earliest periods of the White House’s occupancy. Her efforts inspired many to reconsider the contents of their attics and the buildings that surrounded them. Melissa Naulin, associate curator of decorative arts at the White House, will explore Mrs. Kennedy’s restoration program in the context of similar efforts by First Ladies who preceded her, and examine the legacy of her work.
