A Tour of the White House with Mrs. John F. Kennedy: A “Virtual” History Class for the Nation
May 10 @ 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm
In 1962, the First Lady led a televised tour of the White House that became a cultural phenomenon, viewed by more than 80 million people. Her tour featured the collective work of her committee, led by H. F. du Pont, transforming rooms in the White House to reflect the history of the house and its residents. Elaine Rice Bachmann, guest curator of Jacqueline Kennedy and H. F. du Pont: From Winterthur to the White House, will share the story of the making of the tour and how its impact is still felt today.
