First Saturday: Seeds of Spring

April 2 @ 9:00 am - 4:30 pm

Free

Nature comes back to life in April, as plant buds open in a salutation to spring. For Delawareans dating back to the pre-colonial era, April was also a time for planning and planting.

Visit our interpreters at the John Bell House from 10:00-3:00 today to learn about 18th century garden planning and get your hands dirty preparing the beds and planting the first round of seeds! You can also take a self-guided tour around the towering trees of the Dover Green, visit Legislative Hall to learn about the state’s efforts in natural preservation, or stop by our partners at the Biggs Museum, Old State House, and Johnson Victrola Museum for other FREE programs!

We encourage guests to wear comfortable shoes and bring water for all walking tours. Be advised that they frequently cover uneven ground and historic cobblestones.
