SOULS – A Talk about Portrait Photography

May 5 @ 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm

We all have passions and dreams to be discovered, pasts to be guessed at, and futures that are still to unfold. SOULS is a collection of portraits that seeks to both capture and tell some of those stories. Long fascinated by the human condition, Flavia Loreto aims to go beyond the physical externalities of her subjects, and to capture their very essence.
The exhibition, hosted in the hallways of Wilmington’s Music School of Delaware, shows 20 black and white portraits of men and women in different ages, nationalities and professions. The portraits are labeled only with the subject’s first name, ceding power to the audience to go beyond the image, imagining the stories behind the photographs and also to create new stories of their own.
On May 5th at 6pm, Flavia will host a discussion about portrait photography, inviting the audience to talk about the power of portraits and photography.

Join us at the Music School of Delaware 4101 N Washington St, Wilmington. Reserve your spot emailing flavialoreto.photo@gmail.com or contacting flavialoretophotography.com.

Born and raised in Rome, Flavia Loreto developed her passion for portrait photography as a way to connect to others, and to better understand emotions and feelings. After 20 years living and working as a photographer in Germany, Flavia relocated to the US, where she continues to study the human condition through her photography. Among her exhibitions: Donne (Düsseldorf 2013), A Day in Naples (San Francisco 2017). She collaborated on books like – L’arte in cucina (Mondadori 2018) – and – La Valle del Silicio (Italian Foreign Ministry 2019)
