The Newark Arts Alliance Presents Camp Imagine
July 27 @ 9:00 am - August 7 @ 4:15 pm$30 – $525
The Newark Arts Alliance offers Camp Imagine, now in its 22nd year, which gives creative kids visual and performing arts classes for two weeks each summer. The camp is offered July 27 to Aug. 7, Monday through Friday, 9:00am to 4:15pm. This year’s camps will see many changes in response to the Covid-19 Pandemic. Class size is smaller with only 7 or fewer kids per group. Each camper will be assigned a creative nook with designated art supplies for the week and will be asked to wear a mask. Outside spaces will be used whenever possible to offer better air circulation and for children to have snack and lunch breaks without their masks. Social distancing will be in use throughout the camp.
This year, singing won’t be offered but “collaborative art” will take its’ place as the safer option. Visual Art, Theatre and Dance will be offered, but with masks and social distancing. All teachers are professional artists and will be assisted by teen interns. The camp allows space for 21 campers, ages 7 to 12 to enroll in one or both weeks. There is also before and after care offered for a small fee. Generous scholarship support has been offered by New Castle County through councilwoman Lisa Diller. Interested families can apply for a sliding scale discount based on family income.
Camp Imagine will be held at the First Presbyterian Church of Newark at 292 W. Main St., Newark, DE.
