The Rehoboth Beach Independent Film Festival Returns Oct. 31-Nov. 10

Now in its 22nd year, the event’s 2019 lineup includes over 45 American and international films.

The Rehoboth Beach Independent Film Festival is the oldest and largest event of its kind in the state. The 11-day event, beginning Oct. 31, offers a wide variety of American and international features, documentaries and short films. The festival, which is celebrating its 22nd year, is presented by the Rehoboth Beach Film Society, a nonprofit arts organization that provides a broad scope of independent film screenings, mini-festivals and theme-oriented film series throughout the year.

The lineup of films for this year includes 23 feature films, 14 shorts and 12 documentaries. The full list of films is available in this year’s program, find it here.

If you have never attended the festival, here are a few tips to make the most out of your experience.

A Festival Pass is required to purchase tickets.

To purchase tickets, you must have a festival pass. A ticket must be purchased for each film screening. Festival passes cannot be purchased online at this time. They must be purchased in person at the festival Box Office located at the Cinema Art Theater during box office hours. 

The Festival Pass level determines when tickets can be purchased and for what days.

There are six levels of Festival Passes, each with a different set of benefits. The Mini Pass is available for those making a short visit. The Festival Pass level determines when you may buy tickets. Film Society members recieve a discount on passes and tickets to the festival.

Review film screening sellouts to create your viewing schedule accordingly.

Here is a list of films that are sold out as of the time of publication of this article; the Festival Box Office will have an updated sell-out board throughout the festival. Be sure to have alternate film choices in case of a sell-out.

  • AGA: Friday, Nov. 1 at 1 p.m.
  • Georgetown: Friday, Nov. 1 at 3:30 p.m.
  • House of Hummingbird: Saturday, Nov. 2 at 1:10 p.m.
  • Go Back to China: Monday, Nov.4 at 6 p.m.
  • Sibel: Wednesday, Nov. 6 at 1:20 p.m.
  • The Infiltrators: Wednesday, Nov. 6 at 3:40 p.m.
  • Standing Up, Falling Down: Friday, Nov. 8 at 10 a.m.
  • Raise Hell: The Life and Times of Molly Ivins: Friday, Nov 8. at 2:45 p.m.

A printed ticket and Festival Pass must be shown to enter each screening.

Tickets to all screenings will be sold online for eligible Pass holders at rbfstickets.com. The Cinema Art Theater Box Office can assist with online ordering. Online ticket sales close 20 minutes before each screening.
