4. Crooked Hammock’s The Dankness
On April 20, the Dankness returns. The beer is brewed with an experimental hop called Idaho 7, whose aroma is reminiscent of marijuana buds. The date is appropriate. In 1971, high school students regularly met up at 4:20 p.m. to light up. Consequently, 420 has been linked to pot ever since.
5. Dogfish Head’s Dragons & YumYums
This lip-smacking pale ale is a tribute to The Flaming Lips, the American rock band. It’s brewed with dragon fruit, yumberry, passionfruit, pear juice and black carrot juice. Buy it in a six-pack or 12-ounce bottles through August.
6. Dogfish Head’s Mixed Media
Scheduled for an April 20 release, Mixed Media includes late-harvest Viognier grape from Alexandria Nicole Cellars in Washington. Expect a spicy white wine body with notes of sweet melon and a tart, dry finish. It’s available through September.
