7 Foolproof Spots for Celebrating National Wine Day

Need an excuse to indulge in some vino? You’re in luck.

 

Do you need to unwind? National Wine Day is Thursday, May 25. Here are some of our favorite wineries—many of which have can’t-miss tours and specials every week!

Nassau Valley Vineyard

Take a free self-guided tour Tuesdays through Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wine tastings are $5 per person, and include a tasting glass. Walk through the galleries and learn about the 8,000-year history of wine and how the vineyard grows in the modern day.

Salted Vines Vineyard and Winery

Join Salted Vines for wine tastings on May 25 from noon–6 p.m. Tastings are $10 per person. Guests can also sample the Vin-O Slush (a frozen wine slushy) while it’s available, and even take home a Salted Vines keepsake glass. Parties of eight or more should make reservations. Retirees can participate in Retiree Happy Hour from 3–6 p.m. every Thursday; specials include half-price tastings and $1 off glasses of wine, slushies and cheese plates.

Pizzadili Vineyard and Winery

Pizzadili Winery offers different wine tasting packages Mondays through Sundays, from noon–5 p.m. The $5 package includes a wine tasting and complimentary glass. The $15 package includes a tasting, complimentary glass and cheese-and-cracker tray. The $20 package includes a wine tasting, complimentary glass and a choice of two trays (cheese-and-cracker, vegetable and dessert). The $25 wine tasting comes with a complimentary glass, room rental and food package (be sure to call ahead). A glass of wine or sangria is $6 per glass.

Harvest Ridge Winery

Harvest Ridge hosts wine tastings Sundays through Thursdays from noon–5 p.m., plus Fridays and Saturdays from noon–8 p.m. On May 25, explore different wines with wine tastings starting at $7 for 8 wines (and you can keep your glass). A variety of cheeses, meats and crackers are available for purchase, and guests can even bring along their own food to enjoy with the wine. Guided tours are offered Saturdays and Sundays at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.

Penns Woods Winery

Join Penns Woods for wine tastings from noon–6 p.m. A regular tasting (sweet or dry) is $10 per person; a reserved tasting (when available) is $20 per person. Enjoy artisan cheeses and spreads or a cheese plate with your tasting, while supplies last. Sit on the patio and overlook the vineyard with a glass or bottle of wine. Bottles start at $22; glasses start at $6.50.

Chaddsford Winery

Chaddsford Winery will celebrate National Wine Day from 11 a.m.–5:30 p.m. with a free wine tasting and keepsake glass, along with 10 percent off all wine bottle purchases. The traditional wine tasting includes seven one-ounce wine samples of dry whites, reds and sweet wines.

Galer Estate Winery

Celebrate National Wine Day at Galer Estate from 4–8 p.m. by taking advantage of its $10-per-person wine tasting. The individual wine tasting fee will be waived for any guest who purchases two or more bottles of wine. Be sure to ask wine servers about additional wine discounts. Galer Estate is also hosting a lecture on May 25—”Winemaker Wine Making II”—with Virginia Mitchel from 6–7 p.m. The price is $25 per person; you can RSVP by phone or online.
