For many people, January is known as Dryuary or Dry January, a time to reset after the holidays and abstain from alcohol. However, many of Platinum Dining Group’s guests order nonalcoholic beverages regardless of the month, says Nick Georigi, director of beverage for the hospitality company, which has six Delaware restaurants. These customers refuse to sacrifice flavor just because they’re ordering a virgin beverage, he notes.
As a result, Platinum now has a sophisticated mocktail menu featuring fresh-pressed juices, unique syrups, infused tea and house-made shrubs. An example is the vibrant Bittersweet Sympathy, made with Dhōs Bittersweet, a carefully curated mocktail with an Aperol-like flavor. The nonalcoholic spirit reflects flavors of rhubarb, bitter herbs and a brulée of oranges. Fresh-squeezed pink grapefruit juice, agave and lime all contribute to the exquisite balance of the two harmonious flavors. The result is a vibrant nonalcoholic beverage that is bitter, sweet and delicious.
