Brew HaHa! Expands Amid Sunna Juice Bar Closure

For the owner of the popular coffee spot, when one door closes another door is sure to open.

Sunna Juice Bar & Café in Trolley Square, opened by Brew HaHa! owner Alisa Morkides in May, has closed after less than six months.

“Unfortunately, I had to make the difficult decision to close Sunna,” Alisa told me via email. “We had a core following, but there weren’t enough customers to sustain the business.”

But, as usual, the entrepreneurial Alisa is already planning her next step. She will be expanding the Brew HaHa! in Greenville to a “3,000-square-foot café on steroids,” she says.

It will be located on the first floor of the Pond Building at Powder Mill Square, where Berkshire Hathaway Realtors has offices. “We’ll feature a diverse range of new brewing methods in addition to our brewed coffee and espresso,” Alisa says. “We’ll also offer a limited selection of local craft beers, wine and coffee cocktails.”

The menu will also include more extensive breakfast options, weekend brunch and small plates. The store’s opening is planned for late spring or early summer. Meanwhile, the Sunna spot remains empty until another tenant can be found.
