A Fun One in Rehoboth
You know how The Insider feels about wine and cheese. No wonder this one caught our eye: Tour the World With Wine and Cheese. It happens Nov. 5 at the Rehoboth Beach Museum. It’s pretty self-explanatory, but you should know this: The $40 for your ticket ($75 per couple) benefits the children’s education room at the museum. You’ll sample wares from Italy, New Zealand, Argentina, and the United States in one of the coolest places at the beach. It’ll be fun. For more, call 227-7310, or visit rehobothbeachmuseum.org for a downloadable reservation form.
Artful Dining, Indeed
One for the day planner: An Evening of Artful Dining: A Preservationist’s Approach to Historic Buildings in Delaware at the Biggs Museum of American Art in Dover. On Nov. 13, you’ll be treated to a three-course dinner by Molly Mason’s in Kennedyville, Md. As you dine on the newly renovated Grand Gallery of The Biggs, preservation consultant Katherine Adams Masek will discuss her studies of paints in historic Delaware buildings such as Fort Delaware, Woodburn in Dover, John Dickinson Plantation and others. The dinner is a beautifully unique way to see the Biggs. Tickets are $65. Reserve at biggsmuseum.org.
Supertramp?
If you haven’t caught on to Little Lee’s Breakfast in America tour yet, check her Web site (leeeatsbreakfast.com) and her Facebook page. Then enjoy the foundation meal of the day on Oct. 28 at Helen’s Sausage House in Smyrna, where writer-diner Lee Rice will kick off her adventure. It’s an attempt to reclaim a little “woohoo” on her life, she writes. She’s still looking for suggestions, so you might still sway her. The Insider loves breakfast, and we could name two dozen alternatives, but Helen’s is a darned fine place to start. See her there, then follow along.
Wine and Beer with a Water View
As the old saying goes, one can never have too many celebrations of beer and wine. (We’re sure we’ve heard that somewhere.) The next great event? The expo at The Chesapeake Inn. It happens Nov. 13 in the inn’s beautiful waterfront ballroom. There will be tastings of craft brews and wine, of course, as well as a buffet of light fare. We can think of few better ways to spend a Sunday afternoon. Tix are $45 in advance, $50 at the door. Call (410) 885-2040 for more.
A Special We Love
Here’s a special we love: the lobster dinner at At the Rail. On Thursdays from 4:30 p.m. till 10 p.m., a mere $21.95 buys you one-and-a-quarter pounds of whole steamed New England lobster with grilled asparagus and your choice of smoked mozzarella mashed potatoes or lemon-scented basmati rice. Need we mention the stunning view of the White Clay Creek Country Club golf course? And that’s not all that The Rail offers in terms of dining specials. See more at whiteclaycreekcc.com, then book your table.
