Do You Dabble in Scrapple?

Calling all creative cooks. It’s time to enter the annual Championship Scrapple Recipe Cook-Off. If you’ve got a great recipe for scrapple pizza, scrapple-stuffed mushrooms or any other intriguing scrapple dish, the event organizers are looking for you. Contestants must register by Aug. 28. The entry fee is $20 per recipe, but cash prizes will be awarded in a variety of categories, including amateur and professional, at the cook-off scheduled for Sept. 12 at the Astro Shopping Center on Kirkwood Highway.

Kirby and Holloway, known for their scrapple (see the photo at left) and sausages, are contest sponsors this year. The event, presented by the Delaware Small Business Chamber, also features a Fun Fest with face painting, numerous vendors and an inflatable obstacle course.
