Libation of the Month
Irish Coffee with Four Walls Whiskey
Where to Find It
Faire Café
216 W. Ninth St., Wilmington
People have been sipping coffee cocktails for generations. For instance, Viennese coffeehouses served Pharisäer, Fiaker, and Kaisermelange in the 19th century. But in America, Irish coffee is the most familiar, particularly throughout the cold months and on St. Patrick’s Day.

The bracing blend of coffee and Irish whiskey reportedly came to the United States in 1952. Faire Café in Wilmington takes a modern approach. The hot beverage is made with Four Walls Irish Whiskey—a combination of grain and malt Irish whiskeys, plus American rye whiskey. For the brew, Faire uses the Revolver blend from Philadelphia-based Rival Bros., which mixes notes of milk chocolate, marzipan, and nougat. Other ingredients include Don Ciccio & Figli Nocino, an herbal liqueur, and demerara sugar.
The libation is the perfect way to salute St. Patrick and warm the body and spirit.
