Newark Meal Delivery Service Offers Comfort Food Amid the Pandemic

As the new coronavirus pandemic continues to alter Delawareans’ daily lives, a Newark food delivery company is providing a little bit of comfort.

Full Circle Foods, created in 2017 by partners Robbie Jester and Tim Bolt, brings chef-prepared meals to nearby homes. The chefs, both experienced at managing local restaurants, saw a business model that was growing elsewhere but missing in Delaware.

The two partners were also looking for ways to eat healthier themselves, and the meal-delivery program allowed them to bring home delivered health-conscious meals to consumers.

“We thought that it was a good opportunity for us to serve a niche and also hopefully get ourselves healthy in the process,” Jester says.

Full Circle Foods aims to provide gluten-free and dairy-free meals, as well as those under 500 calories.

“They come to your house fully prepared; you just pop them in the microwave,” Jester explains.

The service offers weekly plans of three, five, seven or 10 meals. There are also plans for couples and college students. Breakfast and snack add-ons are available for every plan. Full Circle Foods creates weekly menus with fresh ingredients, cooks the entire meal and packages them individually.

The meals are then packed into an insulated bag with ice packs and delivered to local households. Simple reheating instructions are included.

During this difficult time, Full Circle is offering a Meal Relief Kit that doesn’t necessarily fall into the healthy meals requirement but brings people comfort food, Jester says. The kit includes two servings of 10 different meals, four bottles of water and a roll of toilet paper. The total cost is $100.

The Meal Relief Kit recipes include spaghetti and meatballs, herb and garlic roast beef, chicken salad, oven-roasted chicken and rice, and French toast and turkey sausage. The kit will be delivered every Tuesday until canceled.

The relief kit launched Monday, March 16 and social media promotion began Tuesday, March 17. So far, Jester says he’s seeing more people sign up for the traditional meal kit service.

“I would expect that we would see an uptick in people buying care packages,” he says.

While Full Circle Foods is a subscription-based service, Jester says customers can sign up for one week only or send care packages for a week or longer to friends, families and co-workers.
