The new restaurant features outdoor dining, live entertainment, a coffee shop and more.
Grain On The Rocks is officially open in Lewes.
An offshoot of Grain Craft Bar + Kitchen, Grain On The Rocks, located at 43 Cape Henlopen Drive in Lewes, opened Thursday, June 11. The new restaurant offers expansive outdoor seating, water views and live entertainment. The Dogfish Beer Garden and Lewes Coffee Co. are also on site.
Per Gov. John Carney’s reopening guidelines, reservations are required to dine during Phase 1 and can be made at MeetAtGrain.com. The restaurant will only be serving lunch and dinner during this phase.
The Grain On The Rocks menu includes fresh seafood dishes, sandwiches, salads and wings.
As the summer goes on, the new restaurant will add more offerings. When Phase 2 begins on June 15, socially distanced bar seating will be available. Weekend brunch begins on June 20.
Every Sunday, guests can listen to steel drums from 2-5 p.m. A variety of live music begins on June 17 on the restaurant’s indoor stage in front of a mural dedicated to Lewes.
Being at the Cape May-Lewes Ferry terminal, the goal was to offer guests waterfront views even from inside the restaurant, says Lee Mikles, co-owner.
“We created a new 40-foot double-sided bar with windows that open onto the water and allow people to enjoy the outside from any spot in the restaurant,” he says.
Dogfish Head’s beer garden will have its food truck offering its own food and beverage menu. Lewes Coffee Company will also have its own footprint in the space, making espressos, lattes and more using locally roasted, 100 percent Brazilian beans.
“We will also have smoothies and made to order breakfast sandwiches for ferry-goers and people visiting the Cape Henlopen State Park,” Mikles says.
Mikles hopes to see Grain On The Rocks continue to offer guests more as reopening guidelines expand.
“As the summer goes on, we hope to offer concerts in our green space. This waterfront space is almost an acre in size and is perfect for concerts, weddings and more,” he says.
