This Harry Potter Pop-up Bar in Newark Is Every Wizard’s Dream

Anthony and Jeremiah Brooks know how to stay busy. Since opening Hamilton’s on Main, the pair has been responsible for immaculate events, a seasonal Main Street beer garden and rotating food and cocktail menus that always keep things interesting. Their latest venture—a series of monthly rotating pop-up bars in the restaurant’s upstairs lounge—brings an immersive Harry Potter cocktail experience to Newark’s Main Street.

Whether you’re a casual fan or an all-around “Potterhead,” this cocktail lounge provides a unique drinking and dining experience sure to be enjoyed by many patrons throughout the month of November.

The cocktail menu has a Harry Potter cocktail to suit everyone’s tastes. A “Muggles Mule” is made with Knob Creek Maple topped with house-made ginger beer. It’s spicy, boozy and refreshing. The Skela-Grow is also bourbon-based with Maker’s Mark, fresh mint and simple syrup.

Patrons can also try a Felix Felicis—the “liquid luck” potion from the Harry Potter world. A Goldschläger-based cocktail, the Felix Felicis includes citrus, ginger and Prosecco. Gin drinkers are sure to fall in love with the Amortentia cocktail. Roku Gin, cranberry, citrus and elderflower liqueur create a perfectly pink Amortentia cocktail. Finally, patrons can expect to drink plenty of butter beer out of tin tankards just like they would at Hogwarts.

As for the decor, Anthony Brooks—a Harry Potter fan himself—left no “Sorcerer’s Stone” unturned. A sorting hat rests at the corner of the bar to sort patrons into their true houses. Bites from Hamilton’s regular menu are served with tin sharing plates. Cocktails are served in tin chalices and tankards. Banners from the four houses are hung throughout the room. With ambient colored lighting, floating candles, and a life-sized Dobby, there’s so much to see in this corner lounge.

Plus, to sweeten the deal, the full Harry Potter film series plays on loop on two corner TVs throughout the evening.
