Local High School Students Win Big at the Delaware ProStart Competition

Teams from Caesar Rodney and St. George’s will advance to the National ProStart Student Invitational this May.

Over 100 ProStart students from 14 high schools across Delaware met in Wilmington, on March 1 for the seventh annual Delaware ProStart Student Invitational.

Hosted by the Delaware Restaurant Association Educational Foundation (DRAEF), the statewide competition featured a combined 17 culinary and management teams. Students from Caesar Rodney High School took first place honors for the culinary competition and students from St. George’s Vocational-Technical School were awarded first place honors in the management competition. This year’s competition is the first win for both schools, and the first time that a vo-tech school has taken top honors at the competition.

Both teams will advance to the National ProStart Student Invitational this May in Washington, D.C. Teams will compete for educational scholarships to help further their careers in the restaurant and food industry. In 2018, over $200,000 were awarded to winning students.
