Middletown's Dining Scene Gains Two New Restaurants

Two Stones Pub and Playa Bowls are now open on Kohl Avenue.

It seems like every other week, a new restaurant is breaking ground in Middletown. Crooked Hammock Brewery is opening its second location in the fall, and Sweet Dreams Confections also opened its doors in April. And just in time for summer, two more popular eateries have brought their flavors to the New Castle County town: Two Stones Pub and Playa Bowls.

Two Stones started in Newark in 2011 and since then has expanded to a total of six locations plus a brewery and tasting room in Aston, Pennsylvania. Two Stones is known for its Fry Piles, Taco Tuesdays and incredibly inventive dinner specials.

Playa Bowls, which originated in New Jersey, currently has three locations in the state of Delaware (one on Main Street in Newark, one in downtown Rehoboth and now, one in Middletown). The shop specializes in acai, pitaya, coconut and oatmeal bowls—plus juices, smoothies and chia pudding. The eatery now sells a variety of gluten-free and vegan soups plus poke bowls.

Both restaurants are located in the Hedgelawn Plaza, a newly constructed shopping center.
