A new business in Milford really takes the cake. Husband-and-wife team Albert Sierra and Keila Montalvo opened Petite Sweets, a shop specializing in beautifully decorated, flavorful cake pops, in December.
“We were looking for something unique and different,” says Sierra. “We wanted to use the best ingredients.” The colorful store (22 S. Walnut St., 725-0725) is a feast for the senses, with golf-ball-size confections on a stick in flavors such as red velvet, coconut, and cookies and cream. The miniature treats cost $2 for one, $5 for three and $15 for a box of 10, with other prices available. The shop also offers various beverages, including coffee and flavored milk.
Sierra and Montalvo got the idea while living in New Jersey. “My wife is a baker,” Sierra says. “We played around with the idea of cake pops. People were excited. We decided to go full force with it.”
The couple, who have family in Delaware, were looking at possible retail locations when Sierra stumbled on Milford. So they moved to the area with their three young children. “We love the place and the people here,” Sierra says. “We can expand.”
