The chef-owners of Palate in Rehoboth have some impressive credentials, including being the original chefs at The Buttery in Lewes. Most recently, the husband-and-wife team Gary and Lorraine Papp, who have been cooking professionally for more than 30 years, have been running Essential Chef Catering. They’re continuing with that endeavor while overseeing their newest food venture, Palate, which opened in April. The farmer-to-chef café offers casual dine in, daily gourmet to go and beverages at its copper-and-cork craft wine and beer bar. The menu includes items like the vegan stew (pictured) with Cabernet, smoked paprika and braised French lentils, a pasture-fed beef burger and steamed littleneck clams in a Dogfish Head IPA.
