Cheeseheads, now hear this: If you haven’t discovered three-year-old Fromage, a Cheese Boutique, in Middletown, by all means, do so. Owner Chris Pride keeps the case stocked with 60 cheeses at all times, more than 100 for the winter holidays. About 85 percent are well-known European styles and brands. The rest are domestic and artisinal cheeses, mostly from New York, California and Wisconsin. The hands-down favorite: Sartori Cheeses’ BellaVitano Merlot, a creamy reserve that accounts for a huge portion of Fromage’s sales. You’ll also find jellies and jams, infused oils and vinegars, and fresh loaves from Magnolia Bread Company in nearby Sudlersville, Md., which uses homegrown and home-milled grains. “I like the idea of bringing gourmet food to this little town,” Pride says.
