Platinum Dining Group Launches Its First Mexican Restaurant in Wilmington

El Camino is the hospitality group’s newest venture.

Nothing screams the arrival of warmer weather like a delicious margarita. So if your palate is still in hibernation, wake it up at Platinum Dining Group’s recently opened El Camino Mexican Kitchen, a new concept for the hospitality group. (Platinum Dining Group owns Eclipse Bistro, Redfire Grill, Capers & Lemons and Taverna.) The restaurant is located in Concord Plaza, which the Buccini/Pollin Group renovated into an apartment community with shops and restaurants.

El Camino’s menu includes a variety of craft cocktails and margaritas (the jalapeno-cucumber margarita has a nice bite and the passion fruit mojito is paradise in a glass). The tequila list is broken down by type—with brief descriptions, too—which is helpful for newbies who want to try a tequila flight or for the more experienced drinker who wants to craft their own margarita.

The food menu is meant for grazing and sharing—there’s a hefty list of snacks to nibble on, from guacamole, tamales and quesadillas.

There are tacos and enchiladas on the menu and tacos come in an order of two or three. Don’t fill up on the chips and salsa and save room for something sweet—the warm fudge brownie topped with Mexican brown butter semifreddo and a touch of sea salt is decadent ending to a flavorful meal.
