The start of summer means the return of canned wine in my fridge. An easy, grab-and-go beverage for small outdoor gatherings is what I’m looking for as the days get longer and the weather gets warmer. This year, I was searching for a canned natural wine that tasted great and was made with fewer additives than its conventional counterparts. Thanks to Ouro Wines’ establishment in Delaware (a natural wine distributor), finding these vinos at local retailers has become a breeze.

Tucked in the refrigerated section of Wilmington’s Swigg is where I found Ramona. The organic wine spritz company, founded by award-winning sommelier Jordan Salcito, combines her love of fine wine and appreciation of Italian wine spritzes to create a unique product. Ramona wines are made with organic ingredients using sustainable production methods, no refined sugar, no gluten and no artificial additions. Currently available in five flavors, the Organic Blood Orange Wine Spritz is my favorite. This organic Sicilian wine is made with Zibibbo grapes and combined with organic blood orange juice. The rich, red color and perfect amount of bubbly fills a glass with every pour.

The blood orange flavor pairs well with the wine, making it full-bodied enough for dinners and light enough for an aperitif. Available in a four-pack, each box is equivalent to about a bottle and a quarter of wine, making it perfect to share or keep for yourself without worries of over- or under pours, or spoilage. Here’s to celebrating summer!
