These Delaware Restaurants Make Great Margaritas

Want an excuse to celebrate something this weekend?

Look no further than the great holiday of National Margarita Day on Feb. 22. There are plenty of restaurants throughout Delaware who’s specialities are the perfect combination of tequila, orange liquor, lime juice, simple syrup and a sugar or salt rim. Plus, other alternatives to the classic version.

Or, there are a few bars and restaurants who might not be known for the margarita, but make a great one.

New Castle County

BBC creates the Mauna Loa Margarita with infused pineapple Casa Noble Blanco tequila, lime juice, jalapeño slices, on the rocks with a salted rim and lime wedge in a pint glass. Greenville, 655-3785

Cromwell’s Tavern offers up a tavern menu and taqueria menu. To pair with whatever food item you choose, try the spicy margarita where jalapeño-infused silver tequila is the star. Greenville, 571-0561

La Tolteca and La Tolteca Express knows its margaritas. Try a variety of different flavors. Multiple locations

Merchant Bar is a great spot for cocktails down right. On this special day, try the Lolo “Some Like it Hot Margarita,” created with tequila, habanero syrup, passion fruit, Cointreau and a lime-chile salted rim. Wilmington, 543-5574

Mexican Table Restaurant creates out-of-the-box flavors like the Blood Orange Rita made with Sauza Blanco tequila, triple sec, lime and fresh blood orange. Hockessin, 239-5590

Ole Tapas Lounge & Restaurant creates different flavored margaritas to pair with its authentic tapas menu. Newark, 224-9378

Santa Fe Mexican Grill has a pretty serious customer base and creates a seasonal margarita, along with a variety of others. Newark, 369-2500

Kent County

La Hacienda serves up Tex-Mex dishes with plenty of margarita options. Milford, 725-5546 and Dover, 724-7699

El Azteca Mexican Restaurant offers plenty of fajita, taco and nacho options to pair with your tequila-based drink. Dover, 734-3444

Sussex County

Agave offers more than 70 flavors of tequila, making this a great stop for margaritas. Lewes, 645-1232

Big Chill Surf Cantina and Taco Reho offers customers plenty of tequila options. Order the En Fuego, made with house-infused jalapeño Sauza Blue Repo Tequila, triple sec and lime. Rehoboth Beach, 727-5568
