Blazing Star Hard Peach Cider by Great Shoals Winery

Cider, man: An Eastern Shore winery turns TS Smith & Sons’ peaches into a sparkling cider.

Here’s a flavor of summer you won’t forget—Blazing Star hard peach cider, the latest in ciders from TS Smith & Sons Farms in Bridgeville. Made by Eastern Shore winemaker Matt Cimino of Great Shoals Winery, Blazing Star follows the successful release of Smith’s Black Twig Hard Apple Cider last summer. “We did our best at trying to make TS Smith’s Blazing Star a fruit-forward sparkling peach cider,” says Cimino. Key word: “sparkling.” This one has nose-tickling bubbles that add to the delight of drinking it. The cider is made from Blazing Star peaches, a tasty yellow fruit that ripens midsummer, and Ginger Gold apples. Unlike many commercial hard ciders, Blazing Star contains no added flavors, color or concentrates, so what you taste is pure fruit—and pure Delaware. Find it in limited quantities at select liquor stores from Bridgeville east to Milton and north to Smyrna. (337-8271, tssmithandsons.com)
